June 10: Oley Valley High School, 7:00 PM
Our annual side-by-side concert featuring talented Berks County youth will feature American composer Howard Hanson’s iconic “Merry Mount Suite” for the combined orchestra. The concert also pays tribute to our Veterans and Flag Day with patriotic selections.
June 11: Hamburg Community Park, 6:00 PM
Sponsored by the Reading Parks and Recreation Department with additional support from the Berks County Community Foundation, this community concert will feature Jill Haley’s National Parks Soundscape Suite, in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the National Parks System in 2016. Students from Hamburg High School’s band and orchestra program will join the Pops for the second half of the concert.
June 18: Annual Father’s Day Concert at Cacoosing Meadows Park, 4:30 PM
This concert is part of the Berks CountryFest, and pays tribute to the Music of America. Some highlights include the beautiful music from Aaron Copland’s “Our Town”, a special musical tribute to “The Greatest Show On Earth” as well as Carmen Dragon’s exciting arrangement of “Turkey in the Straw”.
July 2: Governor Mifflin Community Days at Governor Mifflin High School, 7:00 PM
The cornerstone work for this patriotic-themed concert will be Erwin Chandler’s composition “The Constitution” written for the Reading Pops Orchestra with chorus and narrator.
July 16 (Raindate July 17): Wyomissing Stone House, 6:30 PM
This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Reading Pops Orchestra’s appearance on the Wyomissing Stone House summer concert series. The concert will pay tribute to our outstanding group of music arrangers and superb principal players in the orchestra as well as several outstanding high school vocalists from Berks County.
December 10: St. Daniels Lutheran Church Vesper Service at Conrad Weiser High School, 4:00 PM
Please join the St. Daniels Choir, soloists, and Reading Pops Orchestra for a beautiful Vesper Service, presented at Conrad Weiser High School.
December 16 & 17: Berks Ballet Theatre Presents The Nutcracker Ballet
The Berks County holiday tradition brings the magical story of Clara and her Nutcracker to life. The year, Berks Ballet Theatre will be joined by the Reading Pops Orchestra for three performances at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, West Reading, PA.
